Amboy Road River Park top

Located off of Amboy Road in West Asheville, this peaceful park consists of a paved walking path that flows along the French Broad River. There is a narrow field perfect for a game of catch nestled between Amboy Road and the river. Off-street parking.

Definitely one of the most beautiful parks in Asheville, this 14-acre greenway meanders alongside the tranquil French Broad River. The property features a vast area of open green space with gracious old trees, a wildflower garden, a paved half-mile walking path, a large gazebo, picnic tables and grills, a fishing/observation deck, and a small playground. The natural beauty of this park makes it a popular spot for warm weather weddings and romantic picnics in the meadow. The newest addition of the property is the Dog Park, which features a large fenced-in area made just for exercising and socializing your pooch! Off street parking and restrooms are also available. French Broad River Park is located off of Amboy Road, in West Asheville.

This exciting new park, located on Amboy Road just off the I-240 exit, came to life in mid-2001. Once fully realized, this park will offer more activities than any other park in our system. The first phase of development features four grass and two sand volleyball courts, a large new wooden playground structure, a roller-hockey rink, a basketball court, and a multi-use track for both bicyclists and pedestrians. Also in the early plans is a paved trail and a multi-use sports field, designed for both baseball and soccer. Future development will include a welcome center, picnic pavilions, a long green space, lawn bowling, water access, a wetland interpretation and education trail, and a series of greenway trails, which will connect with the other parks along the French Broad River.

This first section of the Asheville’s Broadway Greenway is a beautiful green space with a wide paved walking path and gorgeous old trees. This particular section of the walking path straddles the University of North Carolina at Asheville entrance. It is located off of Merrimon Avenue on Weaver Boulevard in North Asheville.

Located at the corner of Avon and Beverly Roads in the Haw Creek community in east Asheville, this new 6-acre park features wooded walking trails, a gazebo, restrooms, and picnic tables, all in walking distance of the East Asheville Center.

This small neighborhood park was newly dedicated to the Montford Community in 1999. It features a small playground with a new colorful play structure, a picnic shelter with two tables, a half court basketball court, restrooms, a paved walking path, and on-street parking.

A favorite summer spot in West Asheville, this facility offers an outdoor swimming pool, with a pavilion, with a bathhouse, restrooms and a concession area. The complex also includes one large picnic shelter - featuring 10 tables and two grills - plus, two lighted tennis courts with practice backboard, a modular playground, half-mile walking trails, and a moderately sized parking lot.

 

 
Richmond Hill Park top

Our largest and most natural park, this 181-acre property features rolling, wooded terrain punctuated by picturesque views of the French Broad River. Amenities include off-street parking, a disc golf course that will eventually feature eighteen holes, and a series of unpaved trails. This is definitely your nature get-away in the city.

Riverside Cemetery is located in the Montford Historic District; a short walk or drive from downtown. The cemetery features over 87 acres of landscaped grounds. In 1997, the cemetery was designated as a Buncombe County Treasure Tree Preserve, by Quality Forward. Riverside Cemetery offers visitors a unique journey into Asheville’s past. Both guided and self-guided walking tour information is available. Tours offer insight into cultural diversity, architecture, religious customs, and landscape design. Riverside cemetery is not just a place where family comes to visit a friend or a loved one. It is a place of beauty; a place where you can walk, take photographs, paint, visit the grave sites of writers Thomas Wolfe and O.Henry.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

 

 
Seven Springs/Meadow Park/ Forest Park top

These neighborhood parks are located off Caledonia Road in the Kenilworth community in East Asheville. They feature a steep inclined trail that crosses a free flowing creek and is embraced by enormous old hardwoods and plenty of shade, as well as, a playground, a nice long field space for possible Frisbee use, and off-street parking.

 

 
Shiloh Park top

This beautiful neighborhood park is nestled into the heart of the Shiloh neighborhood and annexed by the Shiloh Community Center. It features a lighted ball field with concession and restrooms, a basketball court, tennis court, a great newly dedicated playground, picnic tables, a paved walking track, and off-street parking. Shiloh Park is located on Shiloh Road in South Asheville.

 

 
Weaver Park top

Includes more than six and a half acres and features a lighted youth ball field including concessions, a basketball court, paved tennis courts, picnic tables and a shelter, grills, and a restroom and a really nice playground. A wide paved walking path easily accommodates strollers, skates, and bicycles. The natural aspects of the property include a quiet green space (perfect for throwing a Frisbee), many beautiful flowering trees, and a free flowing creek that gently curls its way through the park. Weaver Park is located just off of Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville.
